In keeping with our "green" philosophy, the café, will feature Just Us coffee from the environmentally friendly, fair-trade and organic coffee cooperative.
Located on the second and third floors of The Atrium, bright office spaces will house the Department of Astronomy and Physics, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research, among others. Also, the second floor will host four community-based research initiatives, which provides graduate students and faculty with a home-base for conducting a variety of hands-on ecological studies.
The Atrium will be the new gateway to the Patrick Power Library. At the Information and Research Desk, you'll find knowledgeable staff ready to assist with the navigation and use of the wealth of reference Library materials and electronic resources. The Atrium will include an area of wired computers and work stations, staffed with a full-time IT professional to assist with your computer needs.
Reflecting our commitment to sustainable environmental practices, the experimental green roof will provide a unique learning opportunity for both graduate and undergraduate students, while also serving as a valuable addition to the integrity of The Atrium — helping it to stay warm in the winter and cool in the summer.
A unique biological display, this three-storey tall vertical field of plant life cleanses the air, provides an ecological approach to maintaining the indoor environment, and serves as an impressive central visual feature for The Atrium.
This tiered 100-seat classroom will feature state-of-the-art presentation technology and provide an enhanced, interactive learning space for students from all faculties. The lecture theatre is being named in recognition of a generous donor.
